How to Organize Your MMA Training Schedule

And, in this article, we have decided to help you organize your training schedule in order to avoid unnecessary stress and trouble.

We know that it might be hard to juggle personal life with MMA training and sometimes, it requires great time management skills in order to make it happen. But, you shouldn’t worry too much about it, as we have prepared a few tips that will help you keep your training schedule organized without sacrificing your sanity, health, or your social life.

 

Always stick to your plan

It is very important that you set a plan and you stick to it because this way you will avoid overloading your schedule. You need to find out what technique you have to improve and try to focus more on that. We all want to do so many things, but the time is not always on our side, and that is why there are situations when we need to make some choices.

If MMA is not your full-time job, and you are squeezing in training in between college and work you have to be careful not to take more than your body can handle. This means that training everything is absolutely impossible and something’s gotta give.

You have to be realistic and you should only train as much as you can and avoid to overwork yourself. It is recommended that you have 2-3 MMA classes per week and on the side, you can take a few other arts if you want to supplement your MMA training. Even if you might be tempted to squeeze more arts into your schedule, we say you shouldn’t.

There are some of them you should focus more on like BJJ and Muay Thai, as they will help you develop important techniques that are mandatory in MMA. These two arts will cover multiple aspects, and they will help you acquire important skills while keeping your training schedule organized.

Once you get to know your body, you will realize how easy it is to stick to the plan because your plan will be perfectly suited for your needs. And, you will see how taking extras down the road can interfere with your goals and desires and can also interfere with your family and social life.

 

 

You should take some time off

Many famous fighters encourage you to work hard for your dreams, and we agree, but we also agree that sometimes it is mandatory to have at least one day off if possible. You should always give your body and mind some rest in order to avoid any health problems. You shouldn’t do anything related to the gym or with your sport on that day off.

On that time off it is best you occupy your mind with things that bring you joy and peace because this is what you need in order to recharge your batteries. When we say that you should take a day off we don’t mean that you should lie in bed all day watching movies or browsing the internet.

You can use that time away from the gym to go for a hike or to go for a walk in the park, or anything fun that makes you feel good. Meeting up with friends, visiting your family, or riding a bicycle will also help you regain confidence and energy.

This way, your MMA training will not interfere with your personal life so that you can enjoy the benefits of both worlds. You will notice that you will be more productive because you will come back to the gym fresh and ready to work hard.

You might think that you could have used that day off to train more but in the end, you are not losing anything, and instead, you are gaining more power and energy. You will feel more dedicated and willing to learn more new techniques.

 

It is ok to skip on workouts

Your health is extremely important, and that is why you should always listen to your body when it sends you different signals. If you feel extremely tired, for example, it is ok to skip one of your two training sessions. It is better that you rest so that you can be in good shape on your next training than to exhaust yourself and do poorly on both training sessions.

 

 

The same goes for those times when you feel like you’re going to get sick – avoid training when situations like these occur. If you take proper care of your health you will enjoy many long-term benefits down the road. Your body tells you when to stop, and you should listen to it because it is for your own good health and well-being.

No matter how hard you are willing to train or how much you are willing to sacrifice yourself for your passion, in the end, your health is the most important. In the short-term, going to the gym sick, with fever, injured or with a herpes outbreak might seem fine. But, in the long-run, these unhealthy habits can have serious negative effects on your health.

If you really want to train, even when you are not feeling very well, it is recommended that you do it very lightly. You can stretch only or you can do 1-2 rounds of light bag work in order to avoid putting too much pressure on your body. By paying attention to your body and learning how to take proper care of it you will be able to prevent many health problems.

Your schedule is already tight and the last thing that you want is to crowd it even more with unnecessary doctor’s visits. Nowadays, there are multiple devices that can help you recognize what you truly need – when you need rest or when you’re just feeling sore. It is recommended that you prepare your training workouts in concordance with the way you feel.
